Partnership Makeover
The focus of this structured course is to start you on your journey to true compassionate horsemanship. We all need a helping hand when we are learning new methods and trying new things, so I wanted to structure this as a starting point so that you can better solve your horse’s problems in the library now that you have a fantastic bond in place.
Basic Handling
From leading horses to dealing with a freeze response and separation anxiety, this module teaches you how to respond to your horse with kindness and support, avoiding escalating pressure and confrontational interactions.
Lunging
Lunging to create mental connection, awareness and communication is a key skill to develop in any partnership. In this module you will learn how to lunge your horse ‘free’ in a round pen, start the basics of body language as a form of communication, deal with a horse on ‘autopilot’ and much more.
Catching Your Horse
All horses deserve to be treated with understanding and kindness from our first interactions. Learn how to catch your horse without bribes or treats, and follow my methods for catching a very fearful horse.
Groundwork
All horses need to be set up correctly with simple exercises that allow influence and connection with different parts of their bodies. This module teaches you how to refine your groundwork skills for soft, quiet communication, centred on kindness and safety.
Riding
Riding our horses confidently and calmly is the goal. Learn how to support your horse to find confidence in their ridden work, and solve problems that arise.
Trailer Loading
A confident horse on the trailer who will load consistently in varied environments and weather conditions needs to have some essential skills in place to support them to be successful. This module includes videos about loading young horses, horses with anxieties and self loading.
Behaviour
Videos relating to your horses behaviour including: Head ‘Twirl’ and rain
Building Confidence
Videos on how to build your horses confidence. If our horses aren’t able to trust in our leadership and focus on our support/directions from the ground first, then they will struggle when they feel more challenged during ridden work.
Behavioural Cases
This module follows specific horses with a range of behaviours who need extra help to bring out their full potential. Some of these horses have experienced significant traumas and their challenging behaviour is broad so it doesn’t fit into a single problem solving category.
